You'll need a CPC card if you're driving lorries, buses or coaches professionally. If you passed your car test after January 1997 and will be using your licence to work, you'll need to take a Driver CPC. If you passed your car test before January 1997 and have a C1 or 7.5 tonne entitlement on your licence you don't need to do the Driver CPC Initial Qualification but the periodic training.
If you're a coach or bus driver it doesn't matter when you got your PCV licence, you must do a Driver CPC Initial Qualification course by September 9th, 2013. These courses are designed to improve your knowledge and skills as a professional PCV or LGV driver. There are new laws and registration for buses this year and lorries next year.
