IN CANNOCK

If you are looking to apply for a driver CPC card, speak to the friendly professionals at British HGV Training Group today.

What do you need to drive professionally?

You'll need a CPC card if you're driving lorries, buses or coaches professionally. If you passed your car test after January 1997 and will be using your licence to work, you'll need to take a Driver CPC. If you passed your car test before January 1997 and have a C1 or 7.5 tonne entitlement on your licence you don't need to do the Driver CPC Initial Qualification but the periodic training.

If you're a coach or bus driver it doesn't matter when you got your PCV licence, you must do a Driver CPC Initial Qualification course by September 9th, 2013. These courses are designed to improve your knowledge and skills as a professional PCV or LGV driver. There are new laws and registration for buses this year and lorries next year. Driver CPC periodic training

The Driver CPC periodic training is a 35 hour course over five days that you can do on-site at our Cannock base. If you got your LGV licence after September 2009, you have five years to complete the periodic training from the date of completing your Driver CPC Initial Qualification.

At British HGV Training Group we offer the course. It's a fantastic chance to enhance your driving skills and further your career. It must be completed and registered with the DSA by September 2014 so that you can legally earn money from driving heavy goods vehicles.

What do the modules involve?

The Driver CPC Initial Qualification is taken at an official Theory Test Centre and is in two parts. Module 2 is a case study that lasts about 30 minutes, which you should practice. We'll organise this for you in Staffordshire or the West Midlands.

Practical tests

Module 4 also lasts about 30 minutes and is a practical test that asks you to show to an examiner several crucial checks of the vehicle. We'll help you out with everything before the test so that you know what the examiner will be looking for.
